The Gran Sasso Science Institute is an international school of advanced studies in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Social Science. Located in the city of L’Aquila, in the heart of the Apennine Mountains east of Rome, the institute offers a stimulating environment, with numerous PhD students and postdoctoral researchers selected internationally every year. English is the official language of the institute.

Math Talks @GSSI
The math area at GSSI organizes a biweekly Mathematics Colloquia seminar series, which usually take place every second Thursday. The purpose of the Colloquia is to expose the students to a range of active research topics within each GSSI research area and at their intersection.

PhD @GSSI
Applications for the PhD program at GSSI open every year in March with several open positions in all the four areas. The Math PhD program at GSSI consists of four years with qualifying exams to be taken during the first year. By the beginning of the second year students select a research project under the supervision of one (or more) of the mathematicians affiliated to GSSI.
